The disintegration and rearrangement of materials and substances are used in the creative process, to influence form and colour, re-creating structures through the process of change and reaction.
Some deliberate. Some natural. Some organic.
My work is about sharing a journey of discovery that I have immersed myself in over the past few years. My fascination with textures, re-creating structures and exploring alternative methods of working with materials has led me in various experimental directions.
Steaming plant matter, creating reactions with metals as well as ‘marks’ from mould and decomposition, or discovering reactions that seem to happen from electrical charges, temperature change or even the presence of bacteria.
Is it art, science or both? I will let you decide. I do seem to spend a lot of my time carefully planning for the unknown, and it is the unknown factor that really excites me.
