Due to the volume of entries and as the deadline fast approaches, we’ve experienced a number of requests asking for more time. As a result, we’ve slightly extended the deadline to 22nd June (5pm BST), and to be clear, this won’t be extended any further beyond this date.
Making Art Work* is launching the first indoor ART MARKET in Maidstone on Saturday 19 September 2015. Loosely inspired by the success of “the art car boot fair”, the ART MARKET event will be held in the historic agricultural hall in the heart of the busy market place.
The Art Market is open to Artists, Collectives, Galleries and Art Organisations. We aim to provide a platform for all art disciplines to sell their work and services to the public, building relationships with buyers, potential buyers, galleries and curators. An eclectic program of events will run in parallel with the fair building a relaxed and fun atmosphere to engage the public throughout the whole day.
The programme will include music from local bands, performance art and demonstrations from artists. In addition, famous artist, non-artists and celebrities have been have been invited to create paintings on the day, or donate pieces of work. These works will be auctioned to help raise funds for the charities MIND and the Foundling Museum, both of which do great work and have strong associations with art.
Making a submission is free, if selected, artists will be required to pay £35 for a 2m by 2m space by way of an exhibition fee. Please note that the exhibit space is not a conventional white cube and so there is no formal hanging system. However we encourage all exhibitors to be as creative with their approach using a mix of tables(some tables are available free of charge on a first come first serve basis), plinths, easels and crates.
